About Me

I am a PhD candidate in the Philosophy Department at the University of Guelph. My doctoral advisor is Professor John Hacker-Wright, while Professors Monique Deveaux and Ruth Kinna sit on my advising committee.

I have research and teaching interests in the areas of Political and Social Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, and the Philosophy of Social Science. I specialize in Anarchist Political Theory, in Post-Structuralist Philosophy, and in Organizational Studies.

My doctoral thesis examines the concept and phenomenon of “hierarchy” as it relates to social ontology, political justice, and anarchist theory and practice. I address various kinds of definitional and empirical hierarchies, argue that hierarchies in society are always at least morally suspect and are often unjust, and show that societal hierarchies (and their contrast-class, “societal horizontalities”) are the core issue for anarchism.

Education

I hold an MA in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research (2018). My master’s qualifying paper, “Is There a Future for Post-Structuralist Anarchism?” was supervised by Chiara Bottici, while Todd May sat on my examining committee. I also hold an MA in Political Science from Lehigh University (2013), where I was a member of the Community Fellows Program. I earned my BA in Global Studies from Lehigh University (2012), and also minored in the Japanese language.
